The Zagreb Fair is a multipurpose complex in Zagreb that is used to host various fairs, exhibitions, conferences and other events. It consists of over thirty pavilions that were built in different stages.
One of the more famous pavilions of the Zagreb Fair is Pavilion 28, better known as the ‘Đuro Đaković’ Pavilion. A competition was announced for the project of pavilion 28, which was won by Miroslav Begović, a well-known and respected Croatian architect who worked in the second half of the 20th century.
The interesting thing is that the project documentation was drawn up at the beginning of 1961, the building permit was issued in July 1961, and the technical inspection was already held in September of the same year.
The works were carried out by Tehnika from Zagreb, while all the materials were prepared by the factory ‘Đuro Đaković’ from Slavonski Brod. The pavilion is constructed as a prefabricated steel structure with large movable glass walls and two large canopies.
The pavilion was conceived as a presentation area of the ‘Đuro Đaković’ factory, where machines and products from the factory were exhibited. Unfortunately, due to the unstable events of the 90s of the last century, Pavilion 28 gradually fell into disrepair and decay.
These days, after thirty years, its gradual renovation is starting, in which the team from ING3 Construction d.o.o. will participate. Next comes the preparation of project and technical documentation, which will hopefully serve for the further realization of the restoration of this valuable architectural work.
